The range of art that Nixson Borah has produced and exhibited covers a wide spectrum of media including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and photography.  His work has been shown in numerous galleries and museums and is included in private collections on both coasts. The human figure has been a primary subject and a love of modern dance led him to concentrate on dance photography in Los Angeles in the late 1980s and early 90s. For almost a decade he was the company photographer for the Rudy Perez Ensemble in LA, documenting performances and creating studio shots for publicity.  In 1998 he began scanning his drawings and photographs into a computer and creating photomontage images he calls “digital composites.” These are printed on inkjet printers using archival inks and papers.

He shows regularly at the Black-White Photography Gallery in Atascadero and his work is frequently on display in exhibits at the San Luis Obispo Art Center.

Borah’s most recent solo show, which included forty photographs, drawings and paintings, was at the Steynberg Gallery in SLO for the month of October, 2008.

Retired from a career as a teacher of life drawing, printmaking and color theory at Fullerton College, he now lives in Atascadero.
