During a 36-year career as a Naval Officer, Don Eaton devoted much of his free time to photography as he traveled worldwide.  He originally pursued Black and White photography as a means to do Black and White ink drawings but fascination with the photos themselves took hold and he never looked back.

During his Naval career, arduous flying assignments including 66 combat missions in Viet Nam as well as increased professional responsibilities as he progressed to Rear Admiral, his free time became more limited but he managed to enter and win prizes in photo contests and art shows.  He also has had some work published in Naval Institute Proceedings and has done limited commercial work.

Three years ago he converted to digital capture and processing.  He currently uses all Nikon equipment including a D3 and a D2X.  He processes his work on a Macintosh G-5 Quad with a 30-inch HD monitor using Photoshop CS3.  All prints are on Epson or other fine archival paper and printed on an Epson Stylus PRO 3800 or Epson R2400.

Currently he has photos on display in the Black-White Gallery at 9315 Santa Clara Rd. in Atascadero,  the San Luis Obispo Art Center and the Appel Gallery in Sacramento.  He recently had work displayed in the Silverstone Winery, and the Thunderbolt Winery.  He also has published a book of Black and White Photos entitled “East To West”, and a photo essay of Joe Schwartz.

He resides in Paso Robles, California.
